The work shows features reminiscent of Georges Noël’s Art Informel period and abstract expressionism, with a strong use of material and a chaotic dynamism reminiscent of the gestural approach of artists such as Jackson Pollock. The work is characterised by broken lines and splashes that recall the dripping of Action Painting.

The palette, dominated by red, black and orange on a lighter background, is characteristic of his pre-New York period (before 1968), when his art was freer and less influenced by geometric abstractionism.
