Shamanic mask with a hoop
Origin: Alaska, USA
Culture: Yup’ik
Materials: Wood, pigments

It is a typical iconography of Yup’ik shamanic masks, mixing human features and animal spirits.
The human face is placed inside a bird that could be Tringa flavipes (‘Nayangkayuli’ in the Yup’ik language) because of its long nose and spotted colour.
