Hemis appears in the Niman ceremony, which takes place after the summer solstice, at the end of the Katsina season. For this reason, it is also called ‘The Homecoming of the Katsina’.
The Kachina Hemis and Sio Hemis are characterised by a massive superstructure with symbols of reproduction. It corresponds to July – the harvest time for the Pueblos.
